On February 27, the "Tohoku University: University for International Ç×ÅóÆåÅÆ Excellence (UREX1) Forum 2026 £ Explore Your Unknown" was held at MaruCube in Marunouchi, Tokyo, attracting many citizens and business professionals. At the forum, Tohoku University shared its current progress as a global research hub, as well as the university's vision for the future.
The forum was structured into two segments: "Narrative Wisdom" (talking to others to gain knowledge) and "Visual Wisdom" (knowledge we can confirm with our own eyes). In the first half, a talk session was held featuring guests such as Patrick Harlan, Robert Campbell, and film director Hiroki Takahashi. Alongside President Teiji Tominaga and young researchers from the university, they engaged in a lively discussion of the "quest for knowledge" from multifaceted perspectives, ranging from astronomy and linguistics to social implementation.
In addition, a concurrent exhibition titled "The Romance of Knowledge in Tohoku" was featured, introducing the university's "Ç×ÅóÆåÅÆ First" spirit, the legacies of its predecessors, and its history of challenges.
Going forward, Tohoku University will continue to widely share not only its research achievements, but also the passion and dedication behind them - uncovering new knowledge and innovations that can transform our society, as a University for International Ç×ÅóÆåÅÆ Excellence.
