This workshop will explore how disaster-resilient culture can be built and sustained through lifelong education as well as interdisciplinary and partnership-based approaches, with particular attention to higher education and community. The specific objectives are to:
- Develop shared interdisciplinary understandings of disaster-resilient culture and its core dimensions
- Clarify the role of higher education in cultivating discipline-specific and cross-disciplinary competencies for disaster culture
- Identify innovative and effective educational strategies that integrate disaster culture with sustainability and resilience agendas
- Examine how communities function as learning spaces for disaster-related knowledge, memory, and practice
- Explore how "learning cities" contribute to societal resilience and sustainability
- Strengthen partnerships among universities, municipalities, communities, and international organizations
